Catch basins are often installed if there is insufficient drainage. This will direct the surface water to an existing storm sewer or holding pond. Drain tile is used for draining excess ground water, which can cause all sorts of problems. Drain tile will allow more efficient soaking up of the water from the surface, down into the trench where the water is collected into pipes and transported to a ditch, soakaway or storm sewer.
